Tal de Guzman is the founder and designer of Risqué Designs, a footwear brand that focuses on using Filipino materials, skills and inspirations. She is a graduate of Art Management from the Ateneo de Manila University. She also took an additional Fashion course from School of Fashion and the Arts (SoFA) and an Entrepreneurship course from The One School. Tal was also the National Champion and sole Philippine delegate to the Global Student Entrepreneurship Awards in 2013, held in Washington D.C. She was one of the 10 Women of Sense & Style in 2014. She was also a finalist for BPI Sinag Accelerate 2016 and Accelerate2030 in 2017.
Her solo venture, Risqué Designs, started from being a part-time business, to a full-grown design and manufacturing business based in Marikina, the shoe capital of the Philippines. She also works with various communities such as Hablon weavers from Valladolid, Negros, and wood carvers from Paete, Laguna. She has been featured in several magazines (Entrepreneur Magazine, Cosmopolitan, L’Officiel, Metro Society, Rappler, etc), newspapers (Inquirer, Manila Bulletin, Philippine Star, The Standard, etc), and TV shows (CNN, GMA7, ABS-CBN, TV5. QTV11, Studio23, ANC, etc). She has also joined NY NOW in New York City and has her first retail shop in Glorietta Mall, Makati. Tal currently has her own manufacturing facility in Marikina that produces for her in-house brand and more than 20 other local brands.
She also teaches at the School of Fashion and the Arts and regularly conducts various shoe and entrepreneurship workshops and classes in different venues. She focuses her efforts to contribute in reviving dying industries such as the Marikina shoe industry and various weaving communities.
